A little seasonal fun with Paperclay

A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of teaching my Paperclay Lantern workshop at the Brewery Arts. This workshop is so far removed from my own practice (being an installation artist working heavily with concept and theory!) but brings me so much joy each year; to be able to step out of the usual and indulge in simple, seasonal, creative pleasure with no pressure or need for complex planning or thinking, for a whole day (with delicious lunch included!) is something that most if not all of the participants also loved.

Here are a few photos from the workshop, which of course don’t show the lanterns in their finished glory. The lanterns are being fired right now and once fired they will be fine, hard and translucent. And glow beautifully when lit!

Looking forward very much to seeing these lanterns fired and illuminated!
